The Fast Trauma and Phobia Cure
with Joe Griffin
WORKSHOP OUTLINE:
Traumatic memories, post traumatic stress (PTSD) and even the severest phobias can easily and safely be treated with the skills taught by Joe Griffin. Learn how to detraumatise bad memories, stop flashbacks, cure phobias, banish nightmares and reduce anxiety.
You can help victims of abuse, rape, violence, car accidents, fire, terrorism and panic attacks, by detraumatising them, usually in one session, using the precisely targeted psychological technique taught on this workshop (a refined version of the 'rewind' technique). It’s easy to learn and is one of the most important skills you need when working with any anxiety disorder.
What you gain from the day
- The valued ability to be able to detraumatise people quickly and safely
- Greater confidence in dealing with anxiety disorders and distress caused by trauma, phobias and flashbacks
- A deeper understanding of how the pattern matching processes in the brain cause severe phobic responses
- The chance to see a live demonstration of removing a phobia or PTSD symptoms in one session
- Knowledge of why critical incident debriefing increases the incidence of PTSD
- Practice exercises, under careful guidance.
Who should attend
- Anyone involved in helping traumatised people, including: A & E staff, mental health nurses, OTs, health visitors, counsellors, psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, psychotherapists, police and military personnel.
- If you treat or care for traumatised people (including children), or people suffering from any form of phobia or anxiety disorder, this workshop should be seen as an essential part of your ongoing training.
WORKSHOP PROGRAMME:
The Workshop Day:
Registration: 8.30am to 9.30am (Tea or coffee before 9.25am)
9.30am The key relaxation, guided imagery and dissociation techniques
Introduction to the huge range of anxiety disorders that can be relieved by proper application of the fast trauma and phobia cure. Why the technique, which is easy to do (if you have the aptitude), should be an essential part of the training of anyone working with trauma victims and sufferers of severe anxiety disorders. As well as learning the skills you will be given the scientific (psychobiological) explanation for why they work so well. We take you through a step by step breakdown of the 7 stages of the technique and practise the first step in the process.
11.00am — Refreshment and discussion
11.30am Live demonstration: seeing is believing
You will see somebody who has an anxiety problem (such as a phobia or single event traumatic memory) cured of their distress. We make sure you have a clear understanding of what was involved, and then you practise the first stage of the technique yourself, beginning with the quickest way to relax an anxious person.
1.00pm — Lunch (provided)
2.00pm Putting the process together
Removing traumatic memories and stopping flashbacks or out of control phobic behaviour, requires that the brain’s unprocessed anxious memory responses, that are trapped in the amygdala, are changed and turned into ordinary memories. You will, if you have the capacity, absorb the knowledge and skills to ensure you can do this. Then, under supervision, you practise the entire process.
3.15pm — Refreshment and discussion
3.45pm Practice makes perfect
We make sure everyone on the day has experienced the complete process from both points of view. You will see a FILM showing the technique being used in the complex case of a girl who was severely traumatised by the murders of two friends and another friend's suicide in front of her. After the treatment she loses all symptoms of PTSD that she was experiencing.
4.45pm — Day ends |
